Description
8" (20 cm.) dolls. Each has bisque socket head, blue glass sleep eyes, painted features, open mouth, four tiny teeth, mohair wig, composition body with jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 1078 Simon & Halbig S&H Germany 3/0. Comments: for the French market, circa 1890. Value Points: the elegant pair are wearing richly embellished silk costumes of Marquis and Marquise and are presented, unplayed with, in luxury silk-covered box with embroidered lid and delicate image of a courtly couple on the inside lid.
