20" (51 cm.) Paper mache solid domed shoulder head of lady with oval face, elongated throat, modeled bodice, brown glass inset eyes, painted brown cap with black border forming a V on the forehead and with painted bow tie, painted lashes, single stroke brows, aquiline nose, closed mouth with outlined lips, muslin stitch-jointed body, paper mache lower arms, silk gown, undergarments, stockings, leather slippers, and with original fitted black silk cap with embroidered purple silk panel. Condition: generally excellent, some light craquelure on shoulder plate, old retouch of paint on arms. Comments: Germany, circa 1865. Value Points: rare model with distinctively-painted cap beneath original black silk cap, original unusually-shaped body.
