27" (69 cm.) Bisque socket head with elongated facial modeling, very full cheeks, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose-blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows with feathered detail, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded lips, blushed dimpled chin, separately-applied pierced ears, brunette human hair over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 13 (head) Bebe Jumeau (body). Comments: Jumeau, circa 1884, his signature model known as Bebe Triste in reference to its sad expression. Value Points: very fine quality of bisque and painting enhanced by finest sculpting, original body and body finish, wonderful antique mariner costume and signed leather shoes.
