24" (61 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined tongue, outlined shaded lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, all wooden body with shapely torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles, separately carved fingers, defined toes, pretty French style silk dress is included as well as worn antique signed Bru shoes. Condition: generally excellent, old touch-up on lower arms and hands. Marks: Bru Jne 9 (head) (partially legible carved numbers on back torso). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, his Bebe Modele, offered by the firm for a very few years, 1881-1884. Value Points: each Bebe Modele is an extremely rare doll, its luxury and costly construction indicative of very low production. Models have been found in sizes from 14"-18"; only one other model is known to exist in this imposing 24" size and was likely a special commissioned model.
