18" (46 cm.) All-composition with socket head, brown sleep eyes, real lashes, chubby face, bow-shaped lips of closed mouth, mohair wig with original curls, jointed shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Betty Madame Alexander New York (cloth tag on costume). Comments: Madame Alexander, 1931, one of the earliest composition dolls presented by her; the doll, itself, was commissioned from an unknown generic firm while the costumes, box with pencil note "45 Betty", and marketing were issued by Madame Alexander. Original store label from McKelvey's of Youngstown, Ohio with price of $3.95. Value Points: pristine condition with original pink organdy dress with floral-print ruffled collar, matching bonnet, undergarment, socks and shoes, original box. Few examples exist of this model.
