24" (61 cm.) All-cloth doll with firmly-pressed and oil-painted complexion, facial features, and thick impasto blonde hair in short bobbed fashion, separately-stitched blushed ears, painted blue eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, painted curly lashes, accented nostrils, closed mouth, cotton sateen cover on torso and upper limbs, antique cotton dress. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: The Chase Stockinette Doll Handmade from Stockinette and cloth, stuffed with cotton, made by hand, painted by hand (original label on back torso). Comments: Martha Chase, circa 1900. Value Points: fine original painting is perfectly preserved, rare maker’s label on torso.
