17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, rounded plump facial model, blue painted downcast heavy-lidded eyes, pronounced upper eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, delicately shaded nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, ash-blonde mohair wig, cork pate, gutta-percha body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: bisque is excellent, body is original and very sturdy with some typical gutta percha wear, left thumb missing. Marks: Medaille d'Argent Huret 22 Boulev. Montmartre Paris, Expos L'Univers 1867 (stamp on torso). Comments: Huret, 1867, considered the Golden Age of that firm's doll production. Value Points: exquisite modeling and painting of face, wearing original delicate cotton dress in the Mode Enfantine manner, undergarments, coiffe and kidskin boots in the Huret manner. Included with the doll are two signed Huret costumes comprising a brown velvet jacket with silk skirt, the jacket with wide pagoda sleeves and curly fleeced faux-fur cuffs and hem, and a royal blue three-piece ensemble with black velvet trim. Also included is a Mode Enfantine brown woven dress, plaid-lined burgundy cape with adaptable collar or hood, purple and green woven shawl in original signed Huret box, brown fur muff in original signed Huret box, two additional pairs of Huret shoes (one with Huret stamp), brown silk bonnet with crystal dangles, bone-handled parasol, red feather muff in original cardboard case, brown fur collar in original box, lace cap, white pique cap with soutache embroidery, six additional undergarments, stockings, handkerchief, woven slippers, gloves. Other additional accessories include miniature papeterie, bombe shaped necessaire, carnival mask, porcelain bidet, brown woven snood, and jewelry set on original card. The trousseau is preserved in early wooden box with original paper cover.
