15" (38 cm.) Each is all cloth with pressed and painted facial features, large blue side-glancing eyes, blushed cheeks, tiny button-shaped nose, cloth body. She has bright red yarn hair with braids, red and white stitched-on striped stockings and is wearing plaid school dress with matching purse, white spats and black felt shoes, white woven hat with red edging and flowers, and carrying valise with travel labels of "Susie-Q" and "Alexander Travel Line"; he has reddish brown yarn hair with looped curls, blue and white stitched-on striped stockings, red polka dot shorts and bow tie, blue felt jacket, spats, black felt shoes, woven derby with red edging and brown ribbon band, and carrying parasol and leather bound school book "4th Grade Reader Bobby-Q". She has original cloth label "Susie-Q/Madame Alexander NY/All Right Reserved". Near mint condition. Madame Alexander, 1938. The original designer of the whimsical pair remains a mystery; their images with these names appeared in the mid-1900s in greeting cards by Norcross and playing cards by Aarco, as well as the whimsical dolls by Alexander.
