Description
7" (18 cm.) All-composition with one-piece head and torso, painted blue side-glancing eyes, tiny mouth, black mohair wig, jointing at shoulders and hips, painted white socks and black shoes. She is wearing original costume comprising orange taffeta skirt with blue rick-rack, shawl, pants, bangle earrings, orange wrap upon which is balanced a generous basket of fruit. The costume has original cloth label "'Carmen'/Madame Alexander, NY USA/All Rights Reserved". Near mint. Madame Alexander, 1940, the doll was inspired by the most popular performer, Carmen Miranda, whose Hollywood appearances premiered in 1938 in "Down Argentine Way".
