Description
28" (71 cm.) Poured wax shoulderhead, blue glass enamel inset eyes, dot-edged eye sockets, brush-stroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, inserted tendrils of mohair into scalp to form a soft curly wig, softly-stuffed muslin body, poured wax lower limbs, bare feet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: English, attributed to Montanari, circa 1865. Value Points: most endearing gentle expression on the rare-sized doll, likely presented as an Exhibition model, wearing her original sheer mauve patterned muslin gown with pagoda sleeves, matching fichu, firm-sided Pamela bonnet with matching fabric cover and floral decorations, multi-layered undergarments.
