14" (36 cm.) h. man. 9"l. donkey. Each of superbly-carved dark wood with rich patina of finish, including man in costume of early 1800s including top hat, long tail jacket, breeches, and with satchel and rifle, with maker's initial H.A. on underside. And carved donkey with carved detail of harness and saddle and with two detachable baskets, a baby resting in one, and a bird and dish in the other, with old paper label on underside, indicating provenance to the estate of J. Meyer-am Rhyn. Excellent condition, repair to donkey tail. Grodnertal, early 1800s.
