18" (46 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head with flat-cut neck edge, on matching original shoulderplate with attachment allowing 90 degree articulation, large blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, all-around painted lashes, delicately-feathered brows, accented nostrils, outlined lips of closed mouth, unpierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee body with kid-over-wood upper arms, bisque arms to above the elbows, gusset-jointed hips, kid-over-wood knee joints and lower legs. Condition: generally excellent, body very sturdy and fresh, professional restoration (virtually imperceptible) to two fingers of left hand. Comments: Leontine Rohmer, circa 1858, first version of her realistic head turning system made for only a short period. Value Points: the great rarity of the early poupee is rivaled by her beauty and regal presence, rare features include swivel head, large enamel eyes, luxury body style, and fine antique costume comprising black velvet gown, blouse, undergarments, bonnet, leather boots marked C.C.
