15" (38 cm.) Bisque socket head with rounded plump face, almond-shaped blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with pale accented lips, pierced ears, light brunette mohair wig over original Schmitt pate, French composition and wooden eight loose-ball-jointed body with flat-cut derriere and straight wrists, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SCH (in shield on head and derriere) Bte SGDG 1 (head) 1 (pate). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1880. Value Points: splendid wide-eyed bebe whose innocent expression is achieved by delicate rose-blushing on sought-after pale complexion, original body and body finish.
