Description
8 1/2" (22 cm.) x 6 1/2" x 4". The wooden case has ebony finish with very elaborate Chinoiserie designs including scenes and borders, and with brass ball feet and lion's head mounts with bail handles at the sides. Hinging open to pink paper-lined well-fitted interior filled with more than twenty carved bone sewing tools including an especially fine thimble case with painted floral accents and containing original thimble. There is a lower drawer, with lock and key, which contains various personal mementos along with still more tools, silk needle cases, and such. Excellent condition. Early 1800s.
