17 1/2" (45 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with Dehors neck articulation, blue glass inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, delicately painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, all-wooden poupee body with swivel waist and dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 4 (doll) A La Poupee de Nuremberg, 21 Rue de Choiseul, Lavallee-Peronne, Paris (paper label on doll). Comments: French, circa 1870, the doll was presented as Lily by the prestigious Parisian doll shop, A La Poupee de Nuremberg, owned by Jeanne Lavallee-Peronne, who worked closely with the journal, La Poupee Modele, to market her dolls and which described her as a "doll maker of exquisite taste". Value Points: wearing a very fine antique ivory silk gown, the beautiful poupee has rare wooden body with deluxe articulation, rare neck articulation allowing infinite posing, and her important boutique label.
