18" (46 cm.) Very firm carton shoulderhead with domed head, strong elongated throat and sloping shoulders, painted complexion and features, large brown eyes in well-defined sockets, black upper eyeliner, painted all-around lashes, single stroke brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with extended center line, impressed chin dimple, tendrils of little curls affixed to elaborate paper cap with feather and metallic trim, firm slender kid lady body with elongated legs, painted orange shoes, wooden hands, the doll is wearing her original (very frail) paper gown with silk and metallic overlay. Condition: doll excellent, body is especially clean and sturdy, costume frail. Comments: French, circa 1820. Value Points: very rare early stylized lady doll with original painting and original sturdy body.
