21" (53 cm.) Bisque socket head with very delicately blushed plump cheeks, blue spiral-threaded glass paperweight inset eyes with darker iris rims, thick dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accent dots at eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the very full shaded lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Au Paradis des Enfants Paris 156 Rue de Rivoli (boutique label on torso). Comments: Aristide Halopeau, circa 1880, the unique bebe facial model was commissioned by Halopeau, and decorated for him at the Frayon porcelain firm by the noted Parisian artist, Barnard; only one bebe model was ever offered by Halopeau and few examples were ever made. Value Points: gorgeous bebe with very full sensuous lips, exquisite painting, original body and body finish, very fine antique costume and original boutique label from the prestigious Parisian 19th century doll shop.
