Description
17" (43 cm.) Golden velveteen bunny head with leatherette-lined long floppy ears, stitch-shaped face, large black button eyes, embroidered nostrils and pink mouth, long stiffened whiskers, muslin body with elongated standing legs. The bunny is wearing long dress of dotted Swiss with lilac cluster pattern and ruffled tan collar, trim, and mitten hands. The dress has original tag "Madame Alexander New York". Madame Alexander, the doll was marketed as Dottie Dumbunnie, and may have been inspired by a children's story which appeared in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle on September 21, 1924, noting that "Miss Dottie Dumbunny is the guest of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Flann L. Rabbit, over the weekend."
