Description
13" (33 cm.) Pressed-bisque socket head with rounded facial shape, almond-shaped small brown glass paperweight inset eyes, black encircling eyeliner, painted short lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, softly blushed cheeks, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists, wearing lovely silk costume in the vintage manner. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3/0 H. Comments: Aristide Halopeau, successor to the Barrois firm, circa 1884. Only one facial model of his bebe, marked "H", was made, and, as indicated by extant examples today, appeared in very small numbers. Value Points: very endearing and gentle facial expression on the rare bebe with finest quality of bisque, original body and body finish.
