22" (56 cm.) Bisque shoulderhead of adult lady with oval face and elongated throat, brown sculpted hair in unusual side-parted coiffure waved loosely around her face and captured in a loosely braided knot at the back, with curls tumbling low onto her shoulders, partially modeled pierced ears, painted blue eyes with red and black upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, sculpted and painted necklace with magenta-dotted rose ribbon from which a gilt edged blue brooch dangles, muslin stitch-jointed body, leather arms, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 4 N (in script) 9. Comments: Germany, circa 1870, the doll was featured in the book China, Parian & Bisque German Dolls by Lydia Richter. Value Points: stunningly beautiful doll whose rarity points include brown color of hair, elaborate coiffure, and richly decorated jewelry.
