18" (46 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head of lady with slender oval face and elongated throat, sculpted black hair drawn smoothly around the forehead and forming into long ringlet curls that tumble on to the shoulders and form into a braided chignon at the back of head, painted complexion, teal-blue painted downcast eyes, black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, closed mouth with center accent line, blushed cheeks, slender kid body with wooden lower limbs, paper bands at junction of kid and wood, painted yellow flat shoes. Condition: generally excellent, tiny rub on forehead. Comments: Germany, circa 1840. Value Points: rare early doll with beautifully-formed stylistic coiffure, original finish, body, and costume.
