16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with plump cheeks, small intaglio blue eyes with decorative glaze, black upper eyeliner, one short-stroke brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth modeled as though lips slightly parted and with row of painted teeth, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique cotton dress, striped stockings, shoes, undergarments, woven bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: A 5 M. Comments: Marseille, circa 1910, from the firm's rare series of painted eye art characters. Value Points: very fine quality of bisque and painted features complement the expressive modeling.
