17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead with plump rounded face, delicate complexion with subtle blush, painted blue downcast eyes with thick black upper eyeliner, daintily-painted all-around lashes, fringed brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, brunette mohair wig over original lambswool wig and cork pate, gutta percha body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent, some typical minor body repair. Marks: Brevet Bte SGDG Huret 22 Blvd Montmartre Paris (original green stamp on torso). Comments: Adelaide Huret, circa 1855, during that year she exhibited her poupee at the 1855 International Exposition in Paris where her dolls were described as "an ingenious idea, of very high quality, solid articulations, accurately assembled, perfect taste in the doll dressing." Value Points: an outstanding example of the sought-after important French signature doll, with original signed body, wearing her original costume and undergarments, black and royal blue silk bonnet, and very rare blue silk ankle boots with Huret stamp on the sole.
