28" (71 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, short feathered brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, outlined lips, two upper teeth, movable tongue, composition toddler body with side-hip jointing, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: A 980 M Germany 16 DRGM. Comments: Marseille, circa 1915, the doll has mechanical device in torso and, when wound, the doll moves eyes back and forth in a flirty manner, while simultaneously sticking tongue in and out. The doll was presented as a promotional "attention-getter" in children's clothing shops. Value Points: very fine quality of bisque and modeling, with rare, amusing and well-functioning mechanical device.
