Description
27" (69 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead with oval face and elongated strong throat, blue glass heavily-lidded eyes, painted lashes, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, brunette hand-tied human hair wig, hand-sewn kid body with stitch-jointing, stitched and separated fingers, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, uneven edge of shoulderplate may not be original. Comments: French, circa 1840, attributed to the workshops of Andreas Voit. The doll appeared in an article "A Union of Survivors" by Lorna Lieberman in "Doll Collectors Manual 1983", page 47. Value Points: rare early doll with lovely pale original complexion, serene expression.
