Description
12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head, sculpted short brown bobbed hair with bangs and comb-marked detail, intaglio blue side-glancing painted eyes, white eyedots, single-dash brows, black and red upper eyeliner, button-shaped nose, closed mouth with wide impish one-line smile, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Kestner, circa 1915, depicted is Max from 19th century children's books of Wilhelm Busch and popularized in the early 20th century American comic strip, The Katzenjammer Kids. Value Points: rare variation of Kestner's version of Max which was also produced in smaller size as an all-bisque doll.
