9" (23 cm.) h. 9"w. Arranged upon an early walnut platform which hides the mechanical and musical movements is an elegant lady with sculpted wooden head and torso, painted facial features and carved black hair with arranged curls, and bronze green silk gown. She is seated on a piano stool in front of an upright piano with gilt stenciled trim and painted keyboard with movable keys. When hand wound with brass lever at the front, her hands move up and down over the working keys and beautiful music plays. Condition: generally excellent, costume is frail, mechanism and music function well. Comments: Continental, early 1800s. Value Points: charming early mechanical vignette with original finish on piano and parquet floor.
