14" (36 cm.) x 12" framed. Two prints depicts black women as flower sellers, and are pencil signed by the artist on border. Along with a wax figure of black woman with basket of pastries, on original wooden base; the costume and accessories are of wax, as is the woman herself. Generally excellent. Elizabeth O'Neill Verner (1883-1979), student of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, was considered a leader in the Charleston Renaissance art movement. The Vargas was dolls were created in New Orleans, early 1900s, depicting various neighborhood peoples in daily activities.
