Description
25" (64 cm.) All muslin cloth doll with flat-dimensional face, painted short blonde hair with wispy curls, shaded blue eyes with shaded detail, painted wispy lashes and brows, outlined accented nose, closed mouth with outlined lips, blushed cheeks, stitch-jointed shoulders, hips and knees, separate thumb. Condition: generally excellent, few tiny repairs. Comments: American, early 1900s, known as "Abby Cady" doll, in reference to its designer, the dolls were made by the Ladies' Guild of the First Church in Indianapolis for a few months each year during the Christmas season. Value Points: rare doll to find, with appealing whimsical details of features especially brows and hair, original costume.
