15" (38 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, small blue glass paperweight inset eyes, delicately-painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, with carton torso and skirt which encloses clockwork mechanism with brass wheels hidden under base, bisque lower arms. Condition: generally excellent, three fingers broken on left hand hidden under baby, mechanism functions well. Comments: Gaultier, with clockwork gliding mechanism by Steiner, circa 1875. Value Points: beautiful face, antique costume of nanny, holding little bisque baby in taufling wrap and brass bell rattle. When wound, she glides in circles and waves arms up and down as though rocking the baby.
