16" (41 cm.) Portrait dolls of stockinette with stitched and painted facial features depict an aged man and woman, each with benign smile, white mohair wig, wrapped fabric body, wearing artist-made cloth country costumes and wooden shoes, the man holding a French newspaper, and the woman holding a little baby in blanket wrap. Condition: generally excellent, slight fading. Marks: Bernard Ravca Paris (original paper label). Comments: Bernard Ravca, circa 1940, the man holds an old French newspaper dated 1940 with news about the German invasion toward Paris. Value Points: from the original childhood collection of Shirley Temple, the dolls appeared in vintage photographs of her collection. Included is certificate of authentication.
