15" (38 cm.) Carved wooden head with flat-cut neck socket, painted complexion and facial features including outlined brown eyes, painted brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, painted beauty spot, elaborately arranged blonde lambswool wig, carved wooden torso with voluptuous shaping, defined waist, iron pin jointing of hips and knees with painted stockings and shoes, cloth arms with carved wooden fingers. Condition: generally excellent, some finger repair. Comments: Venetian court doll, circa 1780. Value Points: especially beautiful face, unique body carving enhanced by metal stomacher giving shape to the original low-cut costume, original metal necklace.
