Carved wooden head with dowel attachment to wooden block torso, bald crown with deeply carved hair at side and back of head, thick carved beard and moustache, painted features, brown eyes, closed mouth, thick brows, defined wrinkles in forehead, padded wire armature upper arms and legs, carved wooden lower limbs, painted black shoes and red stockings and wearing original costume of wool flannel with red kidskin vest, posed on original wooden stand. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, early 1800s. Value Points: fine artistry of carving on hair and beard, expressive face.
