24" (61 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with very full cheeks, strong throat, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted delicate lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, delicately feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips, separately modeled pierced ears, (frail) original lambswool wig over cork pate (additional antique blonde mohair wig). French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with plump lower arms, straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent, flake at right pierced ear hole. Marks: EJ 11 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1880, the earliest period of his signature bebe was made for a very short period only. Value Points: rare large early bebe with gorgeous sculpting, finest quality bisque and painting, original body with original finish, included is antique velvet and silk dress, leather shoes, and antique blonde mohair wig.
