Description
5 1/2" (14 cm.) h. desk. Of gilded bronze with inset hand-painted porcelain courtly scenes in the Watteau manner, the furnishings include a desk with working drawer and three panel faux-cupboard top (signed Austria), an oval table with pedestal base, a trio of chairs including one arm chair, and a quartet of chairs of which two are arm chairs. Each of the chairs has a porcelain romantic portrait of a man or woman on the back, and corresponding man or woman on the seat. Also included are three German bisque dolls with sculpted hair and painted facial features, cloth body, and wearing original elegant court costume. Excellent condition. Late 1800s.
