Description
26" (66 cm.) Pressed felt swivel head with very angular facial features, and head held haughtily upward, elongated throat, brown painted side-glancing eyes with heavy eyelids, brown lower eye shadow, pronounced apostrophe-shaped brows, downcast lips of closed mouth, black skullcap, elongated torso and limbs, jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: very good, typical fading and light spotting found on these early models. Comments: Lenci, early 1920s, the classic Pierrot figure was modeled by Marcello Dudovich for Lenci, and was presented in the firm's early theatrical series. Value Points: artful sculpting and painting enhance the dramatic expression of this very rare model, wearing original cream felt costume with black trim and diamond edging, teal vest with purple hearts, heeled shoes and an exuberant leaf-shaped felt cascade crowning the cream cap.
