21" (53 cm.) All-composition, socket head, brown sleep eyes, grey eye shadow, real lashes, four painted lashes at outer corner of each eye, hand-painted arched brows, closed mouth with very full rich red lips, dark brunette mohair wig with soft curls, jointing at shoulders and hips. She is wearing original white gown (with zipper back and padded bosom) with lace overlay at the bodice, very full skirt with multi-tiers of ruffles, tiers of ruffles at the neckline, embroidered floral silk sash and pink and red floral cluster, with double-ruffled pantalets, stockings, cream shoes with ties, and extravagant white woven bonnet with lavish garlands of rose buds. Near mint condition. Madame Alexander, the doll was presented as "Melanie" from the firm's 1946 portrait series, and has extraordinary dramatic hand-painted facial features and very lavish costume and bonnet, and with original cloverleaf wrist tag.
