Description
4" (10 cm.) x 3" engravings. 11" x 9" frames. Set in original black frames are portrait engravings of the mid-1800s French royal couple, he in full military regalia, and she in elaborate gown with jewelry and coronet. Below each image is a seal identifying each, along with name of the engraver, George Baxter. This pair of engravings may be among the best and final work of the man considered the inventor of color printing, as he died in 1867, just a few years before their abdication.
