Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head with solid dome and sculpted short brown curly hair, painted facial features, deeply-set eye sockets with painted grey downcast eyes, heavy eyelids with dark eyeliner, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with very full shaded lips, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 153 S&H 7. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1910, one of only four character models created by that firm for their 150 series. Value Points: very rare art character doll with exemplary sculpting especially of hair with forelock curls, wonderfully-modeled nose with rounded tip, well-defined eyes and mouth, original body and body finish, and fine antique costume.
