12" (30 cm.) Carved wooden swivel head, painted facial features with defined eye sockets, closed mouth, somber expression, all-wooden body with dowel jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles in the manner of articulated wooden poupee bodies. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Possibly Dumontais who exhibited his articulated wooden doll at the 1867 Paris International Exposition. The actual doll is photographed in Encyclopedia of French Dolls, page 193. Value Points: the rare early doll with fully-articulated body wears her original folklore costume with ornamental jewelry, leather wrapped arms, woolen leggings, velvet slippers, silver clasp at waist.
