15" (38 cm.) Posed upon a wooden base with four spoked wheels is a bisque head doll costumed as though at a festive carnival, having painted mask face, blue glass eyes, closed mouth, wooden block torso, wire upper arms, wooden hands. When the toy is pulled along, he waves his arms and legs in a festive manner. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: for the French market, circa 1890. Value Points: most unusual and amusing pull-toy with rare painted mask face, and original carnival costume accented with bells which jingle when the toy is pulled along.
