Description
23" (58 cm.) Standing upon a burgundy velvet covered base is a bisque Chinese woman with gleaming amber-tinted complexion, brown glass eyes, painted lashes, brushstroked black brows with feathered details, accented nostrils, slightly-parted lips, row of porcelain upper teeth, black mohair wig in upswept manner, tall slender carton body and legs, wire upper arms, amber-tinted bisque lower arms and slender fingers. Condition generally excellent. Marks: 4 (head) L.B. (key). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1885, when wound, music plays and the elegant lady nods her head in a circular movement while faning herself. Value Points: rare variation of their Chinese Tea Server automaton, this present example being larger, having open mouth, variant activity, and luxurious costume and accessories, possibly an Exhibition model as only one other example is known to exist.
