17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head with plump rounded face, well defined chin, deeply set eye sockets with painted down-glancing blue eyes and modeled eyelids with glazed black eyeliner, delicately painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, blushed cheeks, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, wooden poupee body with swivel waist, dowel-articulation at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, original metal hands. Condition: generally excellent, body is by Huret firm although of later era than head. Marks: Huret 58 rue De La Boetie (incised on torso back). Comments: Adelaide Huret, circa 1860. Value Points: especially beautiful face of the desired poupee, a signature doll in French poupee history, wearing fine blue fitted gown with pagoda sleeves, undergarments, Huret leather boots (unsigned), bonnet and with watch and chain. The doll also owns nine additional ensembles of the 1860 era, ranging from elegant silk costumes to cotton day dresses and white pique dress with soutache, along with two additional bonnets and other sundries.
