17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, ears pierced into head, blonde mohair wig with interwoven ribbon and long braid, cork pate, all-wooden body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles, well-defined fingers and toes, ball-swivel waist. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (illegible letter at back of head). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1867, the year in which this body model was deposed by Bru, inspired by the classic 18th century mannequin body; this facial model was their premier smiling model. Value Points: rare and beautiful poupee with original wig, perfectly preserved condition of rare body with artistic carving, partial original boutique paper label on torso. Included is the early wooden chair with cane seat.
