Description
35" (89 cm.) seated. The paper mache jester is posed seated on a wooden slat-seated chair with metal frame, with very expressive facial features and painted clown decorations, sculpted hair with high pointed topknot curl, and with painted costume decorated with applied sequins and "jewels" and with striped velvet shorts, painted silver leggings, orange slippers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, mid-1800s. Value Points: very rare jester figure with wonderful expression and pose, and having extravagantly decorated original costume.
