Description
15" (38 cm.) Bisque shoulderhead with sculpted short brown side-parted hair arranged with rolled curls, cobalt blue glass eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lower lashes, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, sculpted bodice with gilt-edged collar and flowing bow tie, muslin stitch-jointed body, bisque lower arms. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1870, the doll is believed to be a portrait of the French 19th century painter, Rose Bonheur, which it remarkably resembles. Value Points: especially fine example of the model with wonderful detail of hair, glass eyes, antique gentleman's clothes and accessories including gold-tipped walking stick.
