Description
19" (48 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered wooden platform is a
bisque-head doll with large blue glass paperweight inset eyes,dark
eyeliner,painted lashes and brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth
with accented lips,pierced ears,auburn mohair wig over cork
pate,slender-shaped torso and legs,wire upper arms,bisque
forearms,wearing original aqua and gold silk festival costume with
gilt metallic trim,matching bicorn hat,and matching shoes; she
stands behind a metal and wooden drum on stand,which is decorated
with colorful ribbons,and holds a drumstick in one hand and a
cymbal in the other. When wound,music plays and the drummer turns
her head side to side,beats the drum with one hand,clangs the
cymbal with the other. Condition: generally excellent,music and
mechanism function well. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau (red stamp on
head). Comments: Roullet et Decamps,circa 1890. Value Points:
beautifully-preserved automaton with charming actions,vibrant
original costume and drums.
