Description
55" (140 cm.) The wooden archery bow has an inked inscription "To Shirley Temple America's Sweetheart, From Howard Hill, World Archery Champion". Howard Hill was a noted and award winning archer who wrote and starred in a three-reel short "The Last Wilderness" and in 1938 performed as Robin Hood's archery tournament rival in the Warner Bros film "Robin Hood", which was the same time that Shirley Temple was preparing for her role in the 1939 film "Susannah of the Mounties" and the occasion of Hill gifting this inscribed bow to her. Included are three vintage photographs of Howard Hills instructing Shirley Temple in the use of the bow.
