French Bisque Poupee "Miss Lily" by Leontine Rohmer with Extensive Trousseau and Accessories

Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, delicate complexion, large blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes and lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with pale accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig captured with knit snood interwoven with blue ribbons, softly-stuffed kid poupee body, kid over wooden upper arms and lower thighs, bisque lower arms and lower legs, bare feet. Condition: generally excellent, some restoration on fingers. Comments: Leontine Rohmer, circa 1860, with rare body style including bisque bare feet. Value Points: exceptionally beautiful petite poupee, wearing sheer dimity gown with pleated ruffles, undergarments, ankle boots, and lovely earrings and ormolu jewelry. Included with the doll is her original trunk filled with extensive trousseau comprising seven additional gowns, extensive undergarments, jackets, night shifts, woven stockings, bonnets, hat boxes, bone-handled parasol, toiletries, wooden marble top dressing table with mirror, miniature book titled "Angel Lilly", a sepia engraving of child playing with doll titled "Miss Lilly's First Walk", and miniature stationery engraved Mademoiselle Lilly. Provenance: the doll was acquired by Karen Rockwell early in her collecting life along with a photograph taken of the doll and her belongings by the previous owner; that photograph is included with the doll. For many years, Karen Rockwell shared the doll, which she had named Miss Lily, with other collectors at UFDC annual conventions including a special exhibit at the 1995 convention titled "Remember the Ladies".
