French Porcelain Poupee, Adelaide Huret, Trousseau, Signed Huret Dresses and Shoes

17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead with delicately-complexioned plump face, painted blue downcast eyes with thick black upper eyeliner, daintily-painted all-around lashes, fringed brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, gutta percha body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Huret 22 Blvd Montmartre...(original green stamp on torso). Comments: Adelaide Huret, circa 1855, during that year she exhibited her poupee at the 1855 International Exposition in Paris where her dolls were described as "an ingenious idea, of very high quality, solid articulations, accurately assembled, perfect taste in the doll dressing." Value Points: the rare doll, with original signed body, is stored in her original trunk with elaborately labeled compartments, along with an extensive trousseau, comprising four early gowns (two of which have original stamp of "Maison Huret"), black hip-length woolen jacket, two skirts, petticoat, three chemisettes, sleevelets, blouse, jacket, three pairs of socks, wooden sabots, two pairs of shoes (one pair stamped "Huret"), eight various bonnets, two parasols, leggings, valise, paisley shawl (signed by maker), mittens, jewelry, leather purse and more. The doll bears a blue ribbon award from the 2007 UFDC national convention.
